Responsibilities of the D.O.N Include:

• Direct & Oversee the nursing care for clients with a tracheostomy, gastrostomy tube, ventilators, and oxygen therapy, etc.
• Development of protocol that ensures that health professionals are proficient in the use of medical equipment such as feeding pumps, nebulizers, chest vests, pulse oximetry, suction machine, oxygen concentrator, humidifiers, etc.
• Exhibits knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and maintains an agency environment that is compliant with the regulations.
• Ensure that Supervision and Evaluation of healthcare professional's job performance are done annually and as needed.
• Ensures adequate staffing needs for clients are met.
• Ensures the client/staff concerns are handled in accordance with agency policy and procedures.
• Promotes the education of home health care staff members, clients, families, and the community.

Qualifications:

• Current unrestricted RN License
• Successful completion at an RN accredited school
• At least 2 years of clinical experience, which includes pediatric direct care experience within the past 2 years.
• 2 years of management experience
• Excellent communication skills
